Every year, we host a limited number of semi-private benefit concerts at the The Love Nest in Pangea Gardens. We hope you can “Get Away From it All” and join us for these special afternoon events in the beautiful mountains of SW Virginia, in fellowship with other like-minded Pangeans.
First, a confession. We are “music maniacs.” And, as we’ve grown older, we’ve become pretty discerning in our music appreciation. And, we hasten to add, “It’s different strokes for different folks” when it comes to music preferences. For our part, we support independent, original performance artists whom we feel have a unique talent for juicing one’s spirit through the magical aspects of music. “Juicing” may mean the music is tender and draws a tear, or the music may border near mayhem and draw out one’s animal spirits – – and any human emotion in between may be triggered by the artists we present.
As the music begins, it often feels as though the sounds are emanating from the Earth itself – yes, in effect, holy moments. You might notice people in the audience who are closing their eyes. That’s the magic of experiencing music at The Love Nest, where the power of music and nature help people to stop quaking and to start hearing… everything. That is partly why the crowd at each concert represents a rich tapestry of locals and travelers from afar, who so happily gather for opportunities to commune with the mystical aspects of music and nature.
A wonderful musical experience in The Love Nest is based on you reading the tea leaves. We want music in The Love Nest to stand out. Folks who attend our concerts are respectful of the artists and their fellow guests, and avoid blocking another person’s view (tall hats, standing, jumping up and down, etc.) and/or engaging in long, loud conversations; or attempting to out-sing the artists. If your behavior reflects any of these quirks, you’ll be asked discretely to settle down. If you persist after our first request, you’ll be exorcised.

So, just read the tea leaves, there is a moment for everything. If the artist is sitting on a stool pouring his or her heart out, just sit and listen and soak it up. If a bluegrass band, a celtic band or a hippy-hoppy rock band is pounding away, feel free to stand up and do your own interpretive dance. Simply put, we want folks to enjoy themselves, but not at others’ expense.
After a concert, as you stroll about, you might pause and reflect upon how every stone, every tree, every plant, every path, every floral accent was selected and placed to ensure that the natural harmony of the world is heard as a gentle whisper throughout the gardens. Simply put, we want each of our guests to have an immersive experience, enjoying music and nature in a way that feels refreshing and wholesome, an experience shared with others.
